United kingdom

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was a constitutional monarchy, situated on the islands of Great Britain and Ireland. Existed in the years 1801 to 1922, when he became independent Irish Free State. Act of 1927 was then changed to the current name of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Act of Union of 1800, merged the Kingdom of Great Britain with the Irish Kingdom, which has been co-opted by gradually between 1541 and 1691 by agreement of Limerick.

During the Easter Rebellion in 1916 was unilaterally announced and subsequently in 1919 the Irish parliament (Dáil Éireann) established the Republic of Ireland, its non-recognition of the Kingdom of Great Britain led to the Irish War of Independence. After a conflict between the Irish Republican Army and the forces of the Kingdom of Great Britain in the War of Independence was the sixth December 1922 under the Anglo-Irish Agreement to the partition of Ireland in Northern Ireland and the Irish State.
Six of the nine Ulster counties of the province created a new country Northern Ireland and remained part of the original kingdom. The remaining part is transformed into Irish state. On 12 April 1927 the law was changed and the current name of the kingdom continued to use the name United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
